Dr. Zahi Hawass, until recently head of the Egyptian Antiquities department, has been dismissed from his post in a cabinet switch after mass unahppiness with the role the transitional cabinet has been playing in the wake of the revolution.

Hawass is a renowned figure in the field of Egyptology and a man whose numerous digs have given us a lot more information about the ancient world than we would have known. Despite his ties to Mubarak, his work  should stand on its own.
