One of my favourite pastimes is to read random data collected by the FRED economists and collected.

Apparently Britian used to require a lot of bricks. A LOT. This makes sense given the rapid pace of industrialization that took place in the UK during the 19th century.

The falloff of brick production likely is due to the plateuing of building that took place after the ramp up of industrial textile production.
